Mac botnet spreading by pirated Photoshop CS4
Apr 17, 2009 by M. Scott Brauer No Comments »News broke today of a growing botnet infecting Macintosh computers, spreading through pirated copies of Photoshop CS4 and iWork09. Virus researchers describe this as “‘first real attempt to create a Mac botnet’ and note that the zombie Macs are already being used for nefarious purposes.” Security through obscurity is never a good idea; it’ll be worthwhile to keep an eye on this, since Macintosh computer security hasn’t been a major concern for most users. ClamX Antivirus seems to be a decent antivirus program for OSX, though I’ve no personal experience with the program.
