One more question for Jon Cazenave

I’ll be posting very soon the next interview in our series, with Houston-based photographer Eric Kayne. If you didn’t see it, we started with Basque photographer Jon Cazenave.

After posting the Jon’s interview M. Scott came up with the great idea of asking a consistent question or two of everyone we talk to, including simply ‘Tell us a few photographers you like’.

Since we didn’t ask this to Jon in time for the first posting, we thought we’d revisit the question and give you his response .. and one more picture.

He suggested that we look at Argentinian photographer Walter Astrada, who Jon calls “a true inspiration”. With better timing than Jon could have predicted, I read just a few minutes ago on the British Journal of Photography’s blog 1854 that Walter Astrada wins the BJP International Photography Award Single Image category for an image from his project on femicide in Guatemala.

Congrats to Walter and cheers to Jon Cazenave for the link and his interview. Stay tuned for more news from Jon in the coming weeks about his new Basque project (sneak peek with the image below) and the next interview in the series with Eric Kayne which will post later today!

UPDATE (10/16): Jon gave me a few more names and links to pass on. He recommends Tanya Habjouqa (a wonderful photographer who actually worked with M. Scott and I at the short-lived Anarchy Images agency) and fellow Spaniards Carlos Lujan and Edu Bayer.
